Has everyone forgotten about the lowly T1 ?  Certainly not.  The T1 is the building block of the internet.  T1 is simply a transport method designed to send and receive voice or data on 64K channels.  Dependent on the hardware located on the customer premise the delivery can be configured to support voice or data.

Why does this matter to me ??

Essentially T1 prices have decreased dramatically due to the massive amount of data connectivity available.  This is important to you as a customer today because you can get alot more bandwidth for your dollar.

As an example, in the past you may have certain needs for additional bandwidth, and maybe you sourced a cable connection and a DSL.  Today you should maintain the DSL as a backup, but you can purchase T1 connectivity with the necessary hardware supplied for less than $100 / Mb.

In addition you can purchase from 1.5Mb through 10Mb increments allowing even the largest power users to add redundancy and increase bandwidth while possibly reducing cost and increasing productivity.
